Avelo was founded to change how people experience the underwater world. We design diving systems that reduce what the diver has to manage and increase what they get to experience.
The Avelo System was invented by Aviad Cahana, a diving instructor and environmental engineer who spent years working to solve the fundamental limitations of conventional scuba equipment: excessive weight, unstable buoyancy, and the constant task load that keeps divers focused on managing gear instead of experiencing the underwater world.
What followed was years of engineering, testing, and refinement. Rigorous product development, destructive testing, regulatory certification, and real-world validation with divers across every experience level.
Today, the Avelo team includes professionals with decades of experience in scuba education, equipment design, and dive operations. The system reflects that collective expertise: a product built by people who understand what diving should feel like. Avelo partners with Shearwater, ScubaPro, Ocean Reef, Whites, Fourth Element, and DAN.

Avelo exists at the intersection of engineering, education, and experience. These principles guide everything we build.
Every design decision starts with the diver's experience. The system is built around the human body, natural movement, and awareness underwater. When the equipment fades into the background, the dive comes forward.
Diving should get visibly, measurably better over time. Avelo integrates performance data into every dive, giving divers and instructors real insight into stability, workload, and progression.
Avelo reduces task load. It does not remove diver agency. The diver selects, initiates, and controls every aspect of the dive. The system amplifies what the diver is capable of.
All Avelo courses are aligned with ISO standards. Quality assurance is built into every course through post-dive data, student surveys, and professional review. Avelo maintains a quality management process across every course, dive center, and instructor in the network.
Avelo works with dive centers affiliated with all major training agencies. Avelo instructors continue teaching their primary agency's courses alongside Avelo. The system is additive, not restrictive.
The Avelo Professionals Code of Practice requires instructors to model sustainable diving practices and promote ocean conservation. Connecting people to the underwater world is how we build stewardship.

Innovation Award
